As any artist, I love beauty and form, and a love for biology naturally influences my work. My art and writing are very organic. I am untrained in both art forms by choice, because I wanted to use my own raw voice, and am inspired by various aspects of true understanding that move me.
Like my writing, my art is symbolic, and it just seemed to find to me. Thankfully, some natural talent was waiting inside me when both came knocking on my door later in life. Well…if I may say so…and of course, I cannot claim credit for what I was created with. Like all of us, I can only use what I have been given, well.
Anyway, I found that I could draw when I was on holidays once, and I started painting after spending a day in an aboriginal art gallery. They showed me how so much could be said on a single canvass, and I had an experience there that went deep to my core.
I like to do large and colourful paintings. My favourite painting is the cover of ‘The Department of Truth’, and all my book covers are my own work. These pages are just a small gallery of some parts of my works, as well as a few drawings. I will share more in time.
The ideas my pieces portray are ones of unity, and humanity, and are inspired by my Faith. My love for the beauty and depth of the Baha’i Faith makes me paint and write, otherwise I would not have made the effort it takes to create what I do.
The vanity of this world, and the emptiness of art without meaning, would not allow me to.The depth of this Well that I love, and the hopes I hold for people and humanity, give me reason, while all else fails.
